Web alpha · invite-only · free while in alpha
Request access to the Alstead alpha.
Alstead is a plane-first hosted workspace for coding agents: a desk where you hire agents, tick exactly which tools each one may use, keep a memory you can take back, and see who did what. The alpha is open by invitation. Tell us a little about yourself and you’ll get one reply when a seat opens.
- Free while in alpha. No card, no trial clock.
- You sign in with a code sent to your email.
- Work runs use your own OpenAI API key. Your provider bills you directly.
Ask for an invite
This form writes an email for you to send from your own email app. Nothing is sent or stored by this page.
Prefer to write it yourself?
Email SaltyEngineer@asv-labs.com with the subject “Alstead alpha access request”, and include your name, the email to invite, your role and company, and what you’d use it for.
What Alstead does
A plane-first workspace for the agents you hire.
Plane-first means the offer is the hosted workspace itself: the place where you hire agents, decide what each one may touch, and see what they did.
- Agents
- Each agent has a name, a job and a key of its own. It can only use the tools you tick. You can pause it, rotate its key or retire it at any time.
- Needs you
- When an agent reaches past its permissions, the call is refused and the request waits for you, with the exact action and the permission it was missing.
- Memory
- Facts about you, your company, your voice, the people you work with and your documents. You can read, edit, forget and restore them.
- Ledger
- Each operation is written to a log that is only ever added to: who did it, what it was and how it turned out. Never message bodies, memory text or keys.
- Your model key
- Alstead doesn’t sell model time. You register your own provider key. It is encrypted, shown only by its prefix, and never returned.
- Your desk
- Scenery, a scratchpad, a focus timer, and day and night themes, around everything you run.

What you get today, and what you don’t yet.
These lines follow the dated status on the Alstead homepage. Where something is built but not yet verified live, we say so.
- Works today
- Your desk. Hiring, pausing, rotating and retiring agents with explicit tool permissions and one-time keys. Blocked calls waiting in Needs you, with Deny. Memory you can add, edit, search, forget and restore, plus people and documents. Checked by an independent audit on 27 and 28 September 2026.
- Needs your own key
- Anything that uses a model. Work runs use OpenAI Chat Completions with your API key. Other provider types can be registered, but none has been independently verified live yet.
- Built, not yet live-verified
- Bounded Work runs with a budget and a receipt. Allowing a blocked action from Needs you. Restoring an earlier profile version. Binding a model to an agent. Connection grants, routines, outbound MCP servers, Telegram and email.
- Not in this alpha
- Agents messaging on your behalf over SMS, iMessage, WhatsApp, Discord or Slack. Agents using a computer or browser for you. Agents that spend money or hold cards. Publishing, scheduled autonomous work, automatic memory capture, and native iOS or Android apps. Sandbox and cloud computer time.
- Price
- Free while in alpha. Paid plans are planned but not on sale, and nothing is charged.
- Devices
- A web app. Checked in desktop Chrome and at phone and tablet screen sizes.
